Our Facility

The Federation is headquartered on a beautiful 27 acre campus, just off McKinley Avenue in South Bend. The Kurt and Tessye Simon Community Building is the centerpiece of our campus. Our facility features a large community room, a Kosher kitchen, a spacious atrium gallery that hosts temporary art exhibits, a youth lounge, and a multimedia library, Immediately adjacent to the community building, our garden area includes a Walk of History and a Holocaust Memorial.

Our wooded campus also includes extensive gardens, a large outdoor recreation area with a picnic shelter, basketball court, tennis court, fenced baseball field, and sand pit for games and sports.  Our 13 acres of undeveloped woods has paths for the hiker to enjoy the nature and wildlife, including beautiful birds, which flock to our island-like piece of land for solitude.

  • The Kurt and Tessye Simon Community Building houses the Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley.

  • Our playground provides a place for our smallest members to play and stay active.

  • Our Butterfly Garden offers a serene place to interact with some of our campus's smallest wildlife.

  • The Barney Zoss Memorial Ball Field provides community members a manicured area to use for sports.

  • Our Holocaust Memorial offers tribute to the members of our community who were personally affected by history's great tragedy.

  • Our community room opens to our spacious lawn to allow us to offer both inside and outside seating during summer events.

  • Our neatly landscaped grounds provide room for events such as concerts, Camp Ideal, and Summer picnics.

  • We have Basketball and Tennis Courts to allow for Camp Ideal and SaBaBaH kids the opportunity to play sports while on campus.

  • We offer Picnic Pavilion rentals for outdoor parties and summer picnics.

  • Our Community room houses most of our community events, from Adult Ed, to Concerts, SaBaBaH Lock Ins and Lunch n' Learns.

  • Decorated with murals painted by our Camp Ideal Campers and Staff, the youth lounge provides a play area for our Babies, Tots and Blocks group, as well as child care during major Federation events.
