In fact, in less than an hour's drive you can find yourself at a beach along the sand dunes of Lake Michigan or, in the other direction, enjoying quaint Amish Country. Education

St. Joseph Valley offers a mix of both public and private schools for primary education, and has a variety of secondary education opportunities from technical schools to major universities.

Public schools include: South Bend Community School Corporation; School City of Mishawaka; Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation; New Prairie United School Corporation; Union-North United School Corporation; and John Glenn School Corporation.

Private / Parochial schools include: The Stanley Clark School; South Bend Hebrew Day School; Marion High School; and St. Joseph High School.

Colleges & Universities include: Bethel College; Davenport University; Holy Cross College; Indiana Tech; Indiana University South Bend; ITT Technical Institute; Ivy Tech Community College; Purdue University School of Technology; Saint Mary's College; Trine University; University of Notre Dame; and the Yeshiva of South Bend. The Logan Center offers support for those with mental and physical disabilities.
