Women's Philanthropy

National Women's Philanthropy

"We are. We can. We do."

We participate in international events, like Heart to Heart (H2H), a unique and soul-searching experience in Israel designed to attract and engage new participants to Women's Philanthropy and to foster bonds among the women of our federation movement, here, in Israel, and all over the world. For more details, contact the Jewish Federation.

Inspired and guided by our tradition of tzedakah (righteousness/charity) and tikkun olam (repairing the world), the National Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federations of North America is dedicated to the continuity, connectivity and thriving future of our North American communities, Israel and the Jewish people.  We believe that the future well-being of the global Jewish community is inextricably linked to the power of women's philanthropy, the fastest growing phenomenon in fundraising today.

But it is not simply campaign dollars in which our strength resides.  Women's philanthropy taps into the largest resource of charitable power - the ability to actually improve the world around us - through our acts of tzedakah and chesed. A cursory review of our Women's Philanthropic Profile demonstrates the real and growing influence of women on the philanthropic landscape, as well as on charitable - and commercial - dollars in North America today.  Our participants come from all walks of life and participate at all different stages of their lives.  There is no one monolithic profile of the NWP woman, other than the thread that runs through all we do: Kol Yisrael Arevim Zeh L'Zeh - all Jews are responsible for each other - and for the world in which we live.

We seek to provide significant opportunities for all women to affirm their Jewish identity and spirituality, to be proactive in evolving issues of concern to contemporary Jewish women, to engage new cadres of participants and leaders in our communities and to inspire other Jewish women by example.

Lion of Judah Endowment Program

The strength and vitality of women's giving continues through the Lion of Judah Endowment (LOJE).  Establishing a LOJE enables a woman to leave a legacy to safeguard the values that have inspired her own giving, such as: creating social justice, preserving human dignity, and providing Jewish education and enrichment.  A LOJE gift represents the creation of a permanent fund guaranteeing that a woman's yearly financial commitment of $5,000 or more to the Annual Campaign will be made in her name every year after her lifetime.

The Or L'Atid (Light Unto the Future), symbolized by a flame emanating from the Lion of Judah pin, signifies to the Jewish world a woman's commitment to the continuation of Jewish life.  She becomes a light unto the future, a keeper of the flame. Through simple, innovative steps, an endowed gift is within reach of any Lion of Judah, regardless of age or giving level.  Establishing a LOJE ensures continuity and provides a legacy for her children and grandchildren and yours.
